The animals of Ciclovia are gearing up for their annual garden party and talent show. However, there are some literal and figurative road blocks that have gotten in their way and they will need YOUR help to get all of the goodies to the party. At the FIRST STATION you will create your own animal character puppet and will proceed with the instructions to the SECOND scene. You will have some choices to make along the way - not all audience members will choose the same path. Enjoy and if there's time, you are welcome to go back and create a different combination of scenes!
The company of Ciclovia is made up of families and instructors from our devised theatre camp, local high school students, and professional actors from Seed Art Share community. We are delighted to have them representing this work!

Seed has had a blast this season at PlayMakers during Sunday matinees! While adult patrons enjoy the performances, kids ages 4-12 craft, create, play games and make their own performances based on the some of nthe concepts in the shows happening down the hall. Join us for Bekah Brunstetter's world premiere of The Game and stick around afterwards for a performance of Ciclovia!
In conjunction with the world premiere of Bekah Brunstetter’s The Game, students ages 8-14 are invited to join Seed Art Share artists to develop an interactive, site-specific play they will present for audiences at Carrboro’s Open Streets Festival and PlayMakers Repertory Company. Audiences will move throughout the "choose your own adventure" type game exploring multiple endings centered around the theme of reclaiming public streets for recreation. The 5-day camp is FREE to all participants and supported by the Orange County Arts Commission and the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

At the heart of Ciclovia: ‘The Game’ lies a 5-day camp where participants will collaborate with Seed Art Share artists, crafting the game's storyline and interactive elements. Through guided prompts and creative exercises, campers will contribute their ideas and insights, infusing the experience with their unique perspectives. This program offers young minds a platform to express themselves, fostering creativity, collaboration, and community spirit.
In this immersive experience, participants will navigate a "choose your own adventure" style game, unfolding across five distinctive stops within festival and theatre spaces. Guided by nine unique story tracks, audiences will be empowered to shape the narrative's outcome, selecting alternate endings that reflect their choices and perspectives. From whimsical encounters to thought-provoking dilemmas, each storyline will explore the theme of reclaiming public streets, encouraging players to envision new possibilities for urban landscapes.
Ciclovia: ‘The Game’ unfolds across multiple dates and locations, inviting audiences to join the adventure at PlayMakers Repertory Company, The Arts Center of Carrboro, and the Open Streets Festival. From March 25th to April 14th 2024, participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this dynamic fusion of theatre and gaming, celebrating the power of imagination and collective storytelling. Ciclovia: ‘The Game’ promises an unforgettable experience, where every choice shapes the destiny of the streets and the community at large.
This program is supported by a generous grant from the Orange County Arts Commission and The North Carolina Arts Council. Thank you for supporting the arts in our community!
