Seed History Seekers - 2019 TJHA Chapter of the Year!

 This 4-part class that explores NC History through writing, acting, character and production techniques. As members of the Tar Heel Junior Historian Society, this year’s focus will be on examining NC's layered history through the works of NC artists and each class will be centered around a “History in Action”, writing, and design projects that will be submitted for the  annual TJHA convention at the NC Museum of History Museum.  4th -12th grade students participating in any of the four classes are eligible for participation.  *Registration is currently open for winter/spring classes.  Seed History Seekers classes include:

• PLAYWRITING (Sept.10 -Dec.9, 10-11 am) After exploring the topics and techniques of some of our exceptional NC playwrights, students will write their own scenes and monologues based on local biographies and events.
• CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT (Sept.10 -Dec.9,  11:10-12:10) Focusing on research, imagery, vocal and physical techniques this class will prepare young actors to create believable and truthful characters.
• SCENE STUDY (Jan. 7-Apr.24, 10-11 am) Acting students will rehearse and perform the scenes and monologues written by the PLAYWRITING class based on NC biographies and events in an immersive theatre style production.
• THE WORLD OF THE PLAY (Jan. 7-Apr.24, 11:10-12:10) This  technical theatre project class invites students to research the culture, items, fashion, and design of different historical periods. Using our research, students will design and build the props and costume pieces for the Seed History Seekers SCENE STUDY class production.
